Bhakti Movement - Origin, Saints, Timeline Vaishnava and Shaiva devotionalism were given new emphasis and expression by the Alwars and Nayanars saints of South India in the early medieval period. During the Jurassic Period, rifting caused Pangaea to break apart into two supercontinents namely,  Gondwana (to the south)  and  Laurasia (to the north).
