❇The purpose of this day is to raise awareness around the globe that suicide can be prevented

❇National Crime Records Bureau released the data on Accidental and Suicidal Deaths in India report

❇NCRB is headquartered in New Delhi.

❇It is part of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.

❇NCRB was set-up in 1986 

❇After recommendations of the Tandon Committee

๐Ÿ’ Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka accounting for almost 50% of all suicides.

๐Ÿ’ Bihar has the lowest suicide rate in the country among states.

๐Ÿ’ Farmers suicide contributed to 7.4%of total suicides in the country.

๐Ÿ’ The government of  Chhattisgarh has launched the ‘Spandan Campaign’to check suicide and fratricide involving police personnel.
