Chhattisgarh is located in the centre-east part of India. It is the 10th largest state in the country. Sixteen Chhattisgarhi-speaking southeastern Madhya Pradesh districts were partitioned in the year 2000 to form this state. It is also known for its high Scheduled Tribe population. It is also one of the states known for the presence of Naxalite insurgents in the country.
